Meet The Designer
Lisa Jackson, owner and designer of MISS JACKSON SWIMWEAR, has always been a creative soul. As a kid, she spent countless hours playing with her mother’s makeup, painting, drawing, learning new instruments, making friendship bracelets for all the girls in school; anything she could get her hands on to let that creativity out in the world. This was especially evident in her fashion sense, insisting on making her own wardrobe choices as early as the age of two. As Lisa grew older she began searching for a way to turn her creative outlets into a career. After college, she decided to head west to Los Angeles to become a makeup artist.
With an education in Fashion and her experience working on fashion editorials as a makeup artist, the evolution into a designer was a natural progression. Inspired by her experiences in the fashion industry and other creative people she encountered on the job, MISS JACKSON SWIMWEAR was born. At the age of 22, back in her hometown of Toronto, Lisa began the process of learning her trade, from sewing her own samples to pattern drafting, and developing her taste and personality. She did everything herself: walking the blocks of the garment district to source her fabrics and hardware, sewing, producing photo shoots and fashion shows, and even building the website! Things she didn’t know, she taught herself. The hard work and creative evolution is evident in the collection you see today.
After five years of creating custom pieces for editorials and private clients, with only her big dreams and a few hundred dollars, she headed to New York City (the love of her life) to oversee the production of her first collection.
Some of Miss Jackson’s favorite things: All things NYC, guitar, indie bands, Limecrime lipstick, neon nail polish, 6” heels, instagram, beach vacations, MAC fix+, and fabric shopping!
